This just in from Lisa MacLeod MPP:

On Wednesday, April 28th, 2010, Ontario PC Energy Critic John Yakabuski – on behalf of the entire Ontario PC Caucus – will table a motion in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario that calls for a moratorium on all new wind projects until a comprehensive, independent, and peer-reviewed scientific study can confirm that industrial wind energy sites do not pose a risk to community health and environment concerns.  The motion also calls on Dalton McGuinty to restore local planning decisions to local governments.

MPP MacLeod will be speaking to and voting in support of the motion. Legislative proceedings can be viewed on Rogers Channel 68 or 129 (depending on your cable hook up) and are also webcast at http://www.ontla.on.ca.

Scheduled for Toronto April 28 at Queen’s Park a citizens’ protest against Ontario’s rush to allow wind developers to erect hundreds of industrial wind turbines WITHOUT objective health studies and WITHOUT proper environmental assessment and WITHOUT proper noise guidelines that are based on scientific data. 11:00 a.m., Queen’s Park.

[If you are in the North Gower-Richmond area, the Group may be able to find you a ride: email us at northgowerwindactiongroup@yahoo.ca ]

Also that day, MPP for Renfrew-Nippissing-Pembroke John Yakabuski will enter a motion in the Ontario Legislature asking for a halt to wind turbine developments until health studies are done.

And, a first: a GLOBAL protest against industrial wind turbines on May 15th, 2010! This was orchestrated by German citizens opposed to the damage turbines have done in that country to people’s health, to the countryside, to the economy, to the jobs outlook, property values, and more. (You must know about all that, Prowind, from your headquarters in Germany…) The kickoff is in Berlin with speeches from wind turbine opponents around the world.

Here is a picture from a member of one of the German groups, taken near the North Sea.
