Thanks to everyone who helped out with yesterday’s meeting in North Gower, hosted by three local wind action groups: North Gower Wind Action Group, Beckwith Responsible Wind Action Group, and South Branch Wind Opposition Group.

The Ian Hanna challenge to the Green Energy Act started today in Toronto and had a hiccup right away as the judges pondered whether the court was the right place to do this. The government lawyers said it wasn’t, that it should go before a Ministry of the Environment tribunal—but Hanaa’s lawyer Eric Gillespie said that tribunal is only for appeals on individual turbine projects, not the whole shooting match.

A lot of eyes are on this case, as the mechanics of how the Green Energy Act was created will be revealed.

The information meeting on industrial wind turbines and the potential for effects on health, safety, the environment and property values is one week today!!

And, very special news: Eric Gillespie, the lawyer heading up the Ian Hanna challenge, is coming, too. An already star-studded speaker line-up just got some more glitter.

As you probably know, Ian Hanna is asking for a judicial review of the Green Energy Act on the grounds it does not meet the requirements of law in Ontario. In specific, there is significant scientific uncertainty about industrial wind turbines and their effects on human health to warrant striking down certain sections of the Act. More information on the Ian Hanna case can be read at http://windconcernsontario.wordpress.com  and clicking on the Ian Hanna challenge on the bar to the right.

This event is a unique opportunity to hear all these informed expert speakers at one time, and to ask questions important to you.  Residents from the Spencerville area (where Prowind has proposed the 10MW Brinston project) are joining us, and we hope people from Beckwith Twp where another industrial wind turbine project is proposed will join us, too.

Meeting date and time: April 13th at 6:30 p.m.

Alfred Taylor Centre, 2300 Community Way, North Gower
